Tumeric is a spice that comes from the root of cucuma longa plant; a perennial in the ginger family. The major active ingredient is cercumin which gives the spice its yellowish color. This cercumin has antioxidants and anti- inflammatory properties which makes it beneficial to man's health.
Tumeric adds flavor to food and contributes to healthy digestion due to the properties it possesses. It also lessens inflammation,Improves memory, Lessens pain, Lowers risk of heart disease and help prevent cancer growth and development.
Tumeric is very unique as it can be used as spice in food or as supplement. It can be added to smoothies, milk, soup, scrambled eggs, rice or roasted veggies.
Just as tumeric contributes to healthy digestion, its excess consumption might cause digestive problems as well. Therefore it should be consumed in reasonable quantity.
